Crusaders- 7th & 8th grades
Known as “The Crusaders” class, but subject to a vote for a new name, the class will begin the Sunday School year by studying The Gospel According to Peanuts. The book is small, but the lessons are lasting. Charles Schultz, creator of the Peanuts characters, drew not only cartoons, but upon his faith in expressing an idea in a few blocks of images and text in his comic strip. The book is a modern-day guide to the Christian faith, fully illustrated with the classic works of Schultz. Come learn which Biblical stories made impressions on the artist and how we can convey our faith stories with others.
Teachers: Debra Gee & Chris Joseph.
Room Multipurpose East
Close Ties – 9th – 12th grades
Exploring Current Events – “Life beyond the thirty second sound bite” - We learn about what’s going on in the world from lots of different sources, and it’s not always easy to figure out what we think or feel about it. Part of being a Christian in today’s world is developing thoughtful approaches to challenging issues. This fall, the Close Ties (grades 9-12) Sunday School Class will explore current events, including (but not limited to) immigration; health care reform; hurricane and natural disaster response; and other topics the class decides to explore.
Teachers: Brian Cobb & Nancy Reuscher. Room 30.
